And it only has 50k miles on it I have no clue why I have to pay that much and considering this is the second problem with the transmission that I have had. When should you change the transmission fluid of your Cruze? Generally, if your Cruze has an automatic transmission, the transmission fluid is changed every 25,000 to 30,000 miles. If your car has a manual transmission, you should change the transmission fluid approximately every 60,000 miles. Install the oil cooler fitting (1) to the radiator and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft). Install the transmission oil cooler hoses to the oil cooler fittings to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection. Fill the cooling system. The notchy shifting we get is from, simply put, crappy fluid, and the options from Royal Purple and Redline simply don't measure up. As Chris said, Amsoil Synchromesh has proven to be the best. Sciphi has many miles on his change of fluid. I've put 26k miles on my change and it is still perfect.

That's a good process for an old transmission with unknown history. However there's an easier method. Use the cooler hoses to pump out the fluid with the car running in park bRefill, repeat til it runs clean. I don't know what the torque converter capacity is on the GM transmission, but after 2-3 runs, all fluid should be new.

Not changing the fluid will slowly destroy the transmission. Just as Tater salad stated, a double drain and fill IMHO is the best safest method. Then single drain and fills every 40k. I also recommend Maxlife ATF. 2015 Cruze 1.4L AT. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread.
